While historically linking the present atmosphere with the foundation of RSS in 1925, Ziya Us Salam, a senior journalist associated with the Frontline, said, what we are witnessing today is the reflection of the text, language and statement made by the founding members and senior ideologues of the RSS. For RSS, the British were never an enemy in any state and the RSS was formed on the single point to hate Muslims.

Their drama of love towards the nation is nothing but simply to hide their dubious designs. The narrative of go back to Pakistan every now and then also has the imprints from what Golwalkar had said in the past regarding nationality, added Salam.

The author of the book, Of Saffron Flags and Skullcaps, while drawing parallel between reference of uncertainty in the book and the challenges ahead at a public meet organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind at its headquarters on July 21, said, the persecution of Muslims in various parts of the world and particularly the Rohingyas reminds us of the challenges we were in during the spread of Islam; the situation is more or less the same. And now unfortunately the reality is even starring at our face and the day is not far when the same thing could be repeated in India as well.

While referring to the recent lynching in Alwar, he said that the series of lynchings that we have seen is the package of modern replacement of riots from 1950 to 1980. The difference between riots and lynchings is that after lynching the perpetrators instil fear in the whole community. The idea behind lynching is to instil fear among the minorities. In all the lynchings, the pattern, modus operandi remains the same; only the name of the person killed and his place change and it is all pre-planned.

On the pattern, method and madness behind lynching, he said the present lynching pattern is the pattern of the 19th century America. During the year 1861 to 1920 the same type of lynching of black people by while people took place and the only difference was that they did not make videos because smartphones were not available then.

On the solution to the present challenges, he said, we generally live life of a Muslim and our journey is from Muslim to Momin. We pray five times, fast during Ramadhan, give Zakat and also perform Haj. These are all basic levels just like 33 per cent marks required for passing exams. We are required to move beyond and do all that is enjoined to do under the guidance of the Qur’an, to do Dawah. It is not only the duty of religious leaders, Ulema but also of each and every Muslim. Our Constitution gives us right to practise, preach and propagate our religion in the best possible manner.
