Lots of hue and cry over the Mahendra Singh Dhoni who was recently named as captain of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming Twenty-20 World Cup in South Africa. I am really amazed by the various reasons posed for selecting him as a captain. He is an aggressive right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni represents the class of wicket-keepers from the ranks of junior and India A cricket teams who have represented the national team. Apart so many features he has made multiple centuries against the Pakistan-A team in a tri-nation series and was selected in the Indian national team. A powerful hitter of the ball, Dhoni had shown the maturity to reign his aggressive nature to play responsible knocks when the team experienced pressure situation. Apart from traditional shots, Dhoni has a couple of very unorthodox but effective cricket strokes. Since his entry into Indian cricket team, Dhoni’s aggressive batting style, success on the field and his personality including his long hair has made him one of the most marketable cricket icons in India. Above all his skill and talent of getting blend with people of any class reflects his down to earth attitude and nature. I don’t have any reason why he shouldn’t lead as a captain in the upcoming world cup in SA.
