More than 3,000 local Malaysian handicrafts will be promoted at Harrods in London From February 23 to March 28. Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah will launch the promotion on February 26. Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin will also grace the event. Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, at a preview of the event, said: “The Malaysian handicrafts promotion in Harrods is one of the Government’s efforts to promote our local craft products at an international level.” He said this was to help commercialise local arts, culture and heritage to achieve the national vision of turning Malaysia into an international hub for arts and craft. A total of 54 designs by Malaysian Textile Craft will be displayed. Among the selections from Yaya-san Tengku Nur Zahirah are songket and batik designs from the Seri Endon Gallery.
