Hundreds of students under the banner of Students Islamic Organisation of India, on 6 March, assembled at University Jama Masjid and took a protest march in favour of ousted legitimate president of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi. The protestors, dressed in yellow T-shirts with RABIA written on it, were holding placards showing “We all are Morsi”, “Restore Democracy in Egypt” etc. and were shouting slogans against military coup in Egypt. The march started from Jama Masjid and assembled at Bab-e-Syyad, the main entrance of the university. Heavy police force was deployed to control any untoward happening. Abdullah Azzam, a member of the SIO, said the Egyptian Army has been frightened by democratic upsurge in the country and that is why is creating unholy nexus with imperialistic forces to suppress it.
