This is with reference to a news item in 14 February issue of Radiance Viewsweekly on page 33 about Massive Handwritten Qur’an prepared by an Iraqi calligrapher.
This write-up is not for “criticism for the sake of criticism”, but is in good faith and true spirit and brings the facts in light of The Holy Qur’an itself.
What is significance of Massive Quran? Does reciting or seeing or kissing this Massive Qur’an bring more rewards and blessing from Almighty Allah?
First it was massive ship, then massive car, then massive aircraft and now massive Qur’an! What a fantasy?
The Holy Qur’an is God’s Word i.e. Allah’s Kalaam. It is not a show piece, a decoration piece or a display material. The Holy Qur’an is revealed by Almighty Allah for whole mankind for the purpose of guidance. It is the complete code of life for whole mankind. It is not a display material or a show piece. The whole mankind must learn from the Divine Commands of Almighty Allah given in the Holy Qur’an.
When millions of people are not getting two times food in the third world, the Iraqi calligrapher has spent a good amount of sum on preparation of a Massive Qur’an as a meticulous craftsmanship!! What a fantasy!
Have we Muslims or has this Iraqi calligrapher, maker of the Massive Qur’an, fulfilled the rights of the Holy Qur’an in light of teachings of the Holy Qur’an? Has Almighty Allah or His beloved Messenger ﷺsaid about making such things i.e. to make Massive Qur’an for display?
Here are what The Holy Qur’an itself says about Qur’an’s rights (Huqooq-ul-Qur’an) by mankind:
“This is a Book (the Qur’ân) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember.” (Surah Saad, Ayat 29)
“Do they not then think deeply in the Qur’ân, or are their hearts locked up (from understanding it)?” (Surah Muhammad, Ayat 24)
“Indeed We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message (remembrance) for you: Will you not then understand?” (Surah Al Anbiyah, Ayat 10)
“So We have made this (the Qur’an) easy in your own tongue (O Muhammad), only that you may give glad tidings to the Muttaqûn (pious and righteous persons), and warn with it the most quarrelsome people.” (Surah Maryam, Ayat 97)
“And indeed We have put forth for men, in this Qur’an every kind of similitude in order that they may receive admonition.” (Surah Al Zumr, Ayat 27)
“And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?” (Surah Al Qamar, Ayat 17, 22, 32 and 40 – Repeated 4 times.)
“O Messenger! deliver what has been revealed to you from your Lord; and if you do not, then you have not delivered His message.” (Surah Al Maedah, Ayat 67)
“We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will you not then understand?” (Surah Al Anbiyah, Ayat 10)
“And the Messenger (Muhammad) will say: “O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Qur’an (neither listened to it, nor acted on its laws and orders).” (Surah Al Furqan, Ayat 30)
About 60 years ago, a Pakistani poet, MahirulQadri had written a poem in Urdu “Quran kiFariyad” (Complaint of the Qur’an), whose first four lines are as under:
“TAAQON MEINSAJAAYAJAATA HUN,
AANKHON SELAGAAYAJAATA HUN,
DHODHOKEPILAAYAJAATA HUN,
TA’WEEZBANAAYAJAATA HUN.”
Rough English translation:
“I am being covered in pack of cloths,
I am being touched on eyes with devotion,
I am being drunk by water in which my verses washed in,
I am made amulet to wear on body.”
Based on above Qur’anic Verses, we should learn something from these and should refrain from such worldly things of spending good amount on making Massive Qur’an, when there are millions of human beings sleeping at night without having enough food.
May Almighty Allah give wisdom and guidance to those involved in this fantasy. And may Allah guide us on the right path according to His Divine Book,the Holy Qur’an.
