Maulana Anzar Shah Kashmiri, one of the most prominent and respected Ulema from Darul Uloom Deoband, breathed his last on April 26 at a hospital in the capital. He was 82.
Maulana Anzar Shah Kashmiri was suffering from ailment in the heart and kidney for some years and was under treatment at capital’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
The youngest son of Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri, Maulana Anzar Shah Kashmiri was considered an authority on tafseer and Hadith. He was also a good orator. He had been teaching the Qur’an and Hadith for the last 55 years.
He was laid to rest in Deoband in the presence of thousands of his admirers. He is survived with wife, six daughters and a son. Several Muslim organisations have expressed condolences at his demise. They include All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and Imarat Shari’ah (Bihar, Jharkhand & Orissa).
