Md. Shams Ahmed, State Convenor of WPI, Assam Chapter, in a memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, has sought the PM’s “kind intervention on the ongoing continuous and unabated ethnics clashes between the Bodos and Muslims particularly in the districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, part of Dhubri for the last one week which has shocked the conscience of the nation”.
The memorandum demands immediate dissolution of the Assam Government headed by Tarun Gogoi and Bodo-Territorial Council headed by Hagrama Mohilary for breakdown of law and order situation and as well as deliberate failure in protecting lives and properties of the citizens of India living within Assam State and B.T.C. Areas and place the President Rule.
It also demands scrap of Bodoland Autonomous Treaty as it is against the interest of non-Bodos who are majorities in BTAD areas.
Other demands include immediate seizure of illegal arms and ammunition kept by the surrendered BLT, NDFB and other militants groups; condemnation of highly irresponsible and insensible public utterance made on 24-07-2012 by the BTAD Chief and Deputy Chief causing further deterioration of law and order situation in districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Odalguri and parts of Dhubri; arrangement for adequate securities to the Muslims and other non-Bodo who are still staying in the BTAD areas with supply of food, medicine and other essential items till normalcy exists; and identification the root cause of this violence CBI enquiry into the violence as early as possible.
