Islam grants permission to a Muslim to own and possess as much property as possible provided (i) he acquires the property with the factors of production as made lawful (halal) in Islam (ii) he pays Zakat if due, on the property and other charities to the poor and needy in society, and (iii) he allows his legal heirs especially wife, son and daughter to inherit his property left after his death as per Islamic inheritance (Ilm-ul-Faraiz). In fact, it blocks the roads leading to the concentration of economic powers in a few hands resulting in socio-economic justice in society.

Islamic inheritance deals with the rights allowing a Muslim’s legal heirs to inherit his property after his death and after payment his debts. Regrettably, a girl heir is often deprived of inheriting especially father’s property after his death and the share due to her is embezzled by her other relatives. It is an injustice done to her. The Holy Qur’an announces: “Unto the man (of family) belongeth a share of that which parents and near kindred leave and unto the woman, a share of that which parents and near kindred leave- whether it be little or much – a legal share.” (4:7) Those who unjustly devour the wealth of orphans, devour a Fire into their bellies (4:10, 29). Besides Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warns: “Who deprives an inheritor of share, Allah will deprive him of the abode in paradise in the hereafter.” (Ibn Majah)

Briefly, the wife is first given 1/8th of husband’s property; then the residual is inherited by his son and daughter as per ratio 2:1. (The Qur’an 4:11-12) The enemy of Islam criticises it, saying that Islam has discriminated between son and daughter while distributing parent’s property.  According to Islam, when a boy marries a girl, he is required to pay Mehr to her which is absolutely her property. Secondly, he is responsible to maintain family till he survives, not his wife and thirdly she receives1/8th and1/2nd of husband’s property and son’s share.  If all this is calculated together, it reveals the wife’s share more than that of husband. This is absent in other religions.

An Excellent Article

Compliments to Mr. Qasim Abbas, Canada for his well-researched article titled “Massive Handwritten Qur’an!” vide Radiance issue No. 45, 21st February, 2026. I am in full agreement with the learned writer.

Quoting extensively from the Holy Qur’an, he has drawn our attention not to waste money (and in the broader sense natural resources too) on such useless activities. The amount spent on preparation of a Massive Qur’an could have been utilised for the people who are from hand to mouth instead.

The translation of verses of the Holy Qur’an from Arabic into English is easy to understand and lucid. It seems that the learned writer has good command over both the languages.

I salute his courage for calling a spade a spade. Let me conclude this letter by quoting from his excellent write-up, “When millions of people are not getting two times food in the third world, the Iraqi calligrapher has spent a good amount of sum on preparation of a Massive Qur’an   as a meticulous craftsmanship!! What a fantasy!”

May the tribe of such bold and intelligent writers increase.

Palestinian Land Without Palestinians

How can there be a governing body for a people without them being part of it? Yet when it comes to Palestine and the Palestinians, it seems that anything goes.

The West created Israel on Palestinian homeland and turned Palestinians into refugees. Now, President Trump has created a body called the “Board of Peace” to bring peace to Gaza, yet there is not a single Palestinian on it. More than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed, over 1,71,000 injured, and most of Gaza has been destroyed. Palestinians living in Gaza may now be confined to a small corner of the enclave, while the West builds a riviera for itself.

This is what the West calls HUMAN RIGHTS.
