The American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI) on December 17 announced that it has selected the Mumbai based Modern Educational Social & Cultural Organization (MESCO) for its prestigious Sir Syed Ahmed Khan Award. A team led by Dr. Azhar Ali Qureshi (President, MESCO), will accept the award on behalf of the organisation. Legendary Urdu critic, poet, and scholar Dr. Kalim Ajiz will be honoured with the organisation’s prestigious Mir Taqi Mir Award for his contributions to Urdu literature. The award will be given at the XVII Annual Convention of AFMI scheduled to be held on December 27 in Agra. Prominent guests at the convention include Dr. A.R. Kidwai (Governor of Haryana), and Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of Chemicals, Fertilizers and Steel.
