In spite of pleasing gestures from US President Donald Trump, the Indians who know feel, that we have been cheated by the biggest capitalist country. It can be easily understood that Trump is out and out a clever businessman, not of ordinary nature, but like a seasoned oligarch. PM Modi may not accept it but every knowledgeable Indian understands that India is under great pressure. Trump is determined that he would use Tariffs as a potential weapon to subdue India. India is still a developing country though Godi media wants us to believe that we are a highly developed country, just about to enter the portal of a 5 trillion economy.
Modi was under severe pressure and Trump cleverly utilised his skills to clinch maximum benefits. It appears that the US is very badly in the clutches of a cruel capitalist, if not under a dictator. Trump is an accomplished arm-twister and arms seller, who knows how to use the art of pressure tactics.
First, Trump did not care to invite Modi to his inauguration ceremony though the latter is the head of the most populous, functioning democracy of the world.
Next, Trump exerted extreme pressure by sending the first batch of 104 illegal Indian migrants in chains and handcuffs in a military transport aircraft. This inhuman treatment of Indian nationals was an extremely cruel and humiliating gesture almost unknown in the recent history. Yet PM Modi was under heavy pressure to pay a visit to the US.
This shows the reality of Modi’s status in the eyes of the so-called great ruler of the most powerful state which thinks it to be the champion of liberty and protector of human rights. Modi slashed Tariffs on several Indian export items even before his journey to the US. In the near future common man in India will feel the pinch of these measures by ‘Modi’s friend’. Godi media is showering praises on the “successful visit” of PM Modi. But Sensex tells us a different story.
In spite of the claims of Modi’s success, honest analysts perceive that Trump loves tariffs more and Modi less and India the least. Dwindling rupee against dollar also confirms how India has become a victim of method in Trump’s madness.
It is to be seen whether India fully surrenders and agrees to purchase of obsolete F-35 fighter planes. The world knows that a few months back Elon Musk had condemned these aircrafts as too costly and out of date. Another worry is that Trump pressurised Modi to purchase costly American oil and gas while it is available at a cheaper rate from Russia and Gulf countries.
Indian people are under great pressure owing to inflation and unemployment. The big question is: will Modi survive by resorting to pseudo religious and Hindu-Muslim politics? Only time will reveal how PM Modi manoeuvres in the tough situation of internal crisis and external pressure from a selfish capitalist dispensation in the US, headed by a hot-headed ruler who has less humanity and more business and profit motive in his blood.
Indian citizens watch with dismay that Modi did not speak a single word to criticise the inhuman treatment of Indian deportees. He did not have enough courage to request the “Emperor” to allow India to arrange its own aircrafts to take back its citizens.
