Jamaat-e-Islami Hind President Syed Sadatullah Husaini raised concerns over minority welfare, budget priorities, and the communal climate while addressing mediapersons at the organisation’s headquarters. He reviewed the Union Budget and the India US trade agreement and stressed inclusive development as a national necessity.
Husaini acknowledged positive macro indicators. He cited GDP growth between seven and eight percent and near ten percent in nominal terms. He welcomed infrastructure spending of nearly twelve trillion rupees and noted its role in long term growth. He also pointed to a modest reduction in the fiscal deficit as a sign of financial discipline.
He warned that economic strength loses meaning when social outcomes lag. He said the budget offers limited answers to unemployment and income inequality. Employment intensive sectors lack adequate support, which weakens job creation.
On social spending, Husaini flagged gaps in education and health. Policy goals target six percent of GDP for education and three percent for healthcare. Current allocations remain far below these levels. He said this gap threatens human development and social mobility.
Minority welfare formed a core focus. Husaini noted a rise in allocation to around 3,400 crore rupees. The amount remains inadequate given ground realities. He also pointed to underutilisation.
