Muslim leaders have cautioned Minister for Higher Education William Ruto of Kenya against inciting conflict between Muslims and Christians. The leaders took offence with Ruto’s call on Muslims to reject the Proposed Constitution to avoid conflict with Christians. Ruto said this while speaking to councillors in Kwale. “Ruto has to watch his language so that he does not incite conflict,” chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum Sheikh Abdillahi Abdi said. Abdi said Ruto’s statement exposes him as a “Christian fundamentalist and fanatic”. “There has never been any conflict between Muslims and Christians. He is the one trying to bring about conflict between the two faiths,” Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) organising secretary Sheikh Khalifa Muhammad said.
