A missionary in Madhya Pradesh that expelled a Muslim student for sporting a beard on campus will amend its rules to avoid such controversies in the future. Archbishop Leo Cornelio of Bhopal gave this assurance on April 15 to a delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind who said the controversy threatened to spoil the relations between the two communities. Mohammad Salim, a class XII student of Nirmala Convent Higher Secondary School in Sairanji Town, had challenged his expulsion but the Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected his petition. The Supreme Court recently upheld High Court would not reverse the expulsion.
