The Ghatkopar police arrested two persons, including an MNS activist, for allegedly trying to create communal tension at Ambika Nagar in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, on September 29. Investigators said the accused, Sudhir Dharekar who claimed to be an MNS activist, and his accomplice, Hemant Kumar, tried to paste some photographs of Babasaheb Ambedkar on the door of a public toilet. That triggered a fight, which almost snowballed into a communal fight, the police said. Acting on a tip-off, a police team, led by regional additional commissioner of police Ritesh Kumar and zonal DCP R M Vhatkar, reached the spot just on time and pacified the crowd before the situation could go out of control. The duo has been sent to police custody.
