The hooliganism indulged in by four Raj Thackeray’s MNS legislators assaulting the Samajwadi party member Mr. Abu Asim Azmi for taking oath in the first official language Hindi is highly condemnable. A legislator can take the oath in Hindi or English or in the official language of the state.
Mr. Azmi (who does not know Marathi and has said that he would learn it) has protected the rule of law, and made it clear that the Constitution of India is important. We must accept that it is a forward step in the right direction. It is a good lesson for the politicians who want to do things according to their own whims and fancies without any consideration for the Constitution and rule of law.
