A Muslim labourer faced a violent mob attack in Bihar’s Madhubani district after people branded him a ‘Bangladeshi’ and demanded religious slogans. The incident has raised fresh concerns over mob violence and religious intimidation.

The victim, Khurshid Alam, said the incident began while he was at work and briefly visited a nearby shop. A man approached him and asked him to chant Jai Shri Ram, Jai Sita Ram, and Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Khurshid said he responded by saying Bharat Ki Jai. The man left after the exchange.

Khurshid said the same man later recorded his video and circulated it. About an hour later, the man returned and issued threats, warning Khurshid of consequences if he refused to chant the slogans. The situation escalated when several people gathered and accused Khurshid of being ‘Bangladeshi’. The attackers beat him from behind and dragged him all through the village.

Khurshid alleged the mob forced him to walk for nearly two to three kilometres while continuing the assault. He said the attackers threatened his life during the march. He also stated the mob took him toward a Kali Mandir and spoke about sacrificing him there, adding to his fear.

The labourer described hearing repeated death threats during the attack. He said the assault left him terrified and helpless as the crowd continued to beat him publicly. The incident reflects a pattern of violence where identity-based accusations trigger mob action.
