Modi Speaks a Lie about Patel’s Funeral

In an interview to Dainik Bhaskar (26 Oct 2013) in Ahmedabad, Narendra Modi criticised the country’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru for not attending the funeral procession of then Home Minister Sardar Patel. Modi has been resorting to the motivated propaganda about so many things to build up his image. Many of his claims of development of Gujarat are also false. It was Sardar Patel who said that it is due to the ‘hate spread by RSS that we had to lose the Father of our Nation’. Now this statement of his about Nehru is again a blatant lie. Morarji Desai in his Autobiography, Vol 1, Page 271, para 2, writes that the President Rajendra Prasad and the Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru attended the funeral of Sardar Patel in Mumbai.

Such falsehoods have been the basis on which Modi is building his image among a section of society. We condemn this statement and demand an apology from Modi for this falsehood.
