The BJP’ Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, while addressing his first public meeting in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on 19 October said, “India has only one religious scripture i.e. the Indian constitution.” This statement of Modi is false and misleading. As a matter of fact the Saffronites have never accepted the secular and democratic Indian constitution drafted by Bharat Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar. This constitution is a symbol of social equality, justice and unity and which has stood the test of time. Mr. KS Sudarshan, just after taking charge as RSS chief, had declared at a press meet in Nagpur, Maharashtra, that the Indian constitution should be scrapped and replaced with a new constitution based on “Hindu Ethos” i.e. RSS brand Hindutva.
In fact, the Saffaronites do not believe in secularism and secular and democratic constitution of India. On the contrary, they are bent upon subverting and destroying it. Since India is a multi-religious, multicultural and multilingual country, the concept of “Hindutva constitution” and “Hindu Rashtra” is detrimental to the peace, progress, prosperity, unity and integrity of our motherland.
