Moqeem Siddiqui of Gorakhpur, who aims to win Olympic glory for India in shooting is marching ahead step by step but his biggest concern is that neither the state government nor any sponsor has offered any kind of support so far that could boost his morale to realise his dream of winning Olympic medal for India.

Moqeem is making his presence felt in shooting on the national stage. In 57th National Shooting Event, he was awarded Renowned Shot Certificate for scoring 555 out of 600. Siddique has become the first from the region to do so. The beauty of this certificate is that Moqeem can participate in the next year National Shooting Championship without participating in the state and pre-national event. Renowned Shot Certificate is awarded only to those who, while participating in the national shooting event, score the given point or even more than that. One success after another has motivated him to participate in the international event and there he aims to score at least 565 out of 600 points.

The trio shooter is confident that he will represent India in the Olympic and win the medal soon on his own but feels that Sports Minister of India or the Chief Minister of the State should help all those sportsmen who want to win medal and honour for their country. Moqeem has asked the Sports Minister of India and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to facilitate establishment of permanent shooting range so that sportsmen of the region after getting trained there are capable of making Uttar Pradesh and the whole country proud. It has become a habit of our leaders to award in plenty only when they come to know that a sportsman has won glory for India at the international level. There is plenty of talent available and on time assistance, training and facility will help our sportsmen to bring honour to their country while participating in national and international events.

Moqeem, who began to practise shooting by making a temporary shooting range in his house and thereafter at his farmhouse because he could not find any coach or any shooting range practice place available in and out of Gorakhpur.  Moqeem has won many district and state level shooting events. He also used to travel to Delhi and Haryana to practise which is better equipped in shooting range. But, despite all odds he is trying hard to achieve success in every event. Last year, Moqeem had won Silver Medal in Point Three two bore Centre fire pistol shooting in UP State shooting championship held at Karn Singh Stadium in Delhi.
