The Movement for Peace and Justice (Maharashtra) has protested the unceremonious transfer of Mr. A.R. Shaikh from the office of State Wakf Board CEO. “The transfer comes at a time when the Board was in the process of recovering Wakf properties and after the Joint Parliamentary Committee was presented with numerous cases of corruption in State Wakf Board. In fact the State Government had promised a judicial commission to deal with such cases,” M. Anees, Gen-Secretary MPJ(Maharashtra) said in a statement on May 6.
The President of MPJ (Maharashtra) Mr. Mohammed Siraj termed this transfer as “mischievous and meant to stifle and block the proactive role played by the Mr. A.R. Shaikh in restoring Wakf properties.”
MPJ has also planned to take this issue to the common people by organising protest rallies throughout Maharashtra if the transfer is not revoked.
