Mr. Syed Shahabuddin, President All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat has saluted the valiant people of Egypt and welcomed the victory of non-violent mass movement. In a statement on February 12, he said: “The AIMMM salutes the valiant people of Egypt who have, unitedly and through a nonviolent and democratic mass movement, brought down a despot, defeating his machinery of repression and thus written a new page in the history of their ancient land, and proved their credentials in the history of human civilisation.”
The AIMMM welcomed their unprecedented achievement and wishes them an irreversible march towards Democracy, based on Rule of Law & Social Justice. “The AIMMM is confident that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces shall respect the democratic will of the people and faithfully fulfil the tasks it has undertaken to usher in authentic democracy and elected government within the agreed time-frame.”
The Mushawarat expressed its hope that the power of the people shall not only liberate the country from repression and corruption but also from collaboration with foreign interests and thus assume full control over their destiny.
The AIMMM also recognised that since Egypt forms the heart of the Arab world, the fragrance of democratic assertion shall travel irresistibly to other parts of the Arab world, so that all its people eventually assume full control of their natural resources & use them for their own good.
The Mushawarat urged the people of India to share the joy of the fraternal people of Egypt at this historic moment and calls upon the Government to extend them all possible assistance and support, moral political and economic.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omeri, in a statement on February 13, also said that the fall of Hosni Mubarak after three decades of tyrannical ruling is the first step for Egypt and its citizens towards achieving the desired goal. Maulana Omeri hoped to the Muslims of Egypt will abolish dictatorship and imperialism for good and create a free democratic environment in the country, in which the citizens of the country will freely decide the future of their own country.
The Jamaat chief further said the way the citizens of Egypt, thousands in number, demonstrating at Tahrir Squire for 18 days like a leaden wall, exhibited their peace-lovingness, wisdom and prudence despite their high zeal and enthusiasm, is worth praising. The Egyptian people’s taking the peaceful revolution to its logical end without any bloodshed and violence has drawn the attention of the world. This is the answer to all those forces and individuals who do not tire of blaming Islam and Muslims for every act of terror.
