A Muslim organisation, “Majles-e-Tahafuze Madaris Gujarat” of Jambusar, organised an anti-terrorism conference in the Rangupwan Hall at Nanpura, Surat on April 27. This is the first such seminar to be ever organised in Gujarat.
Giving the highlights of the seminar, Mufti Ahmed Dehalvi, president of Majles-e-Tahafuze Madaris Gujarat said that the Darul Uloom Deoband has decided to organise similar seminars in other states also to convey the message that terrorism is not taught in madrasas. “Our enemies want to drive a wedge between Hindus and Muslims in the country. The purpose behind organising such seminars is to change the perception of the common man and to tell him about the activities going on in different madrasas across the country,” he said.
Another Muslim religious leader, Qari Abdul Rashid Ajmeri said that India was taking long, quick strides towards becoming a super power, but its enemies were against this development and were floating rumours about terrorist activities in madrasas across the country. “Islam is against terrorism and a madrasas is a place where Islam is taught, then how can terrorism be taught in madrasas?” he asked.
