A delegation of Muslims, on 2 February, met Union Home Minister, Shushil Kumar Shinde and Minister for Minority Affairs, K Rahamn Khan and demanded release of all innocent Muslim youths detained illegally in different terror cases. The demands include revoking of the UAPA at the earliest possible, reserving at least 15 per cent seats for minorities in all key departments of government machineries, setting up a fair inquiry into the recent communal riots in Assam and Uttar Pradesh and devising an Anti-Communal Riots Law. The delegation comprised of former Minister Saleem Sherwani, Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, General Secretary Welfare Party of India; Kamal Ahmad, Manager Radiance Viewsweekly; Mufti Ataur Rahman, Mohd.
