Delhi Congress president Priya Ranjan Das Munsi on March 2 said that he would take up with the party high command the sentiments of minorities in the state on the sensitive issues like Taslima Nasreen and Sachar Committee report. “I have already listened to the representatives of the minority communities in the state over the last few days. I must convey their sentiments on the issues to the party high command in Delhi soon.” Mr. Munsi said. Besides expressing resentment over Taslima’s stay in the country, the minorities are also dissatisfied over the slow implementation of Sachar Committee recommendations.
Taslima was bundled out of Kolkata last November after widespread protests by Muslim groups and has been living in an undisclosed place for security reasons. The author has been living in exile abroad ever since she fled Bangladesh in 1994 after Muslim groups in her home country issued a religious edict against her for writing a novel Lajja which was blasphemous.
