Senior Shiite cleric Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah warned against divisions among Muslims and called for a “serious and constructive dialogue” among all the Muslims. “Muslim-Muslim dialogue has become a necessity,” Fadlallah said. He added that any such dialogue should be based on three key conditions: a motivation to launch dialogue; considering dialogue as a priority; and the ruling out of all taboo issues in the dialogue. He urged for particular dialogue between Shiite groups and Saudi Salafis. He warned Muslims to be cautious of Western attempts to instigate strife among Sunnis and Shiites, because this strife only winds up benefiting those conceited foreign powers.
