Türkiye ‘crossed out’ Netanyahu, will bring Israel’s war crimes to ICC: President Erdogan
Türkiye has “crossed out” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and will do everything to bring Israel’s violation of human rights and war crimes to the International Criminal Court (ICC), reports Anadolu Agency citing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying. The embattled premier “is no longer someone we can talk to, we have crossed him out,” Erdogan told reporters on Friday aboard the presidential plane returning from Kazakhstan, where he attended the Organization of Turkic States summit.
“I said something in my speech at the Palestine Rally. I announced that we would support initiatives that would bring Israel’s human rights violations and war crimes to the International Criminal Court. Our relevant authorities, especially our Foreign Ministry, will carry out this work,” the Turkish leader added.
He said that Netanyahu has lost the support of Israeli citizens and he wants to garner support for massacres through religious rhetoric. “What the Torah is he talking about?” Erdogan said in reference to Netanyahu’s recent remarks on Amalek, the ancient nation described in the sacred book as a staunch enemy of the Israelites. “Don’t the Ten Commandments include ‘Thou shalt not kill’ as an order?” he questioned.
Oman calls for int’l court to investigate ‘war crimes’ by Israel in Gaza
Oman on November 4 requested the International Criminal Court to form a court for “war crimes” committed against Palestinian people in Gaza and to prosecute “war criminals” responsible for the massacres. In a statement on the social media platform X, the Foreign Ministry expressed “Oman’s deep denunciation and strong condemnation at the continued massacres and war crimes committed by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people.” The statement cited that the crimes include “the horrifying and brutal massacre that targeted the Osama bin Zaid School, affiliated with the UNRWA, in northern Gaza, just yesterday.”
It also pointed out the Israeli bombing of the UN-affiliated Al-Fakhoura School in the Jabalia refugee camp and the entrance of Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital in western Gaza, as well as a public water reservoir supplying several neighborhoods in southern Rafah. The statement emphasized the “urgent need for a true awakening of the international community, based on its ethical, legal, and humanitarian responsibilities, to put an end to Israel’s clear disregard and defiance, as well as its violation of international principles, laws, and agreements.”
No evidence of Hamas seizing aid entering Gaza: US envoy
Pushing back on Israeli fears that aid to Gaza would fall into the hands of Hamas, the US special envoy for Middle East humanitarian issues on November 4 said that “there is no evidence” that the Palestinian group took for itself the aid sent to the Gaza Strip.Speaking to reporters in Jordan’s capital Amman, David Satterfield said “no attempts by Hamas to seize aid trucks were detected,” adding that the fuel of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, or UNRWA, in Gaza “is used for aid trucks, water desalination, and hospitals.”
“There is no evidence that Hamas is seizing or blocking aid entering the Gaza Strip,” Satterfield added. He also stated that there is an agreed-upon mechanism to bring fuel into Gaza when it is cut off. This week hospitals in Gaza have reportedly had to close their doors due to a lack of fuel, power, and other necessary supplies. This week the Israeli army expanded its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since a surprise offensive by Hamas on Oct. 7.
Hamas’ military wing says its fighters killed 5 more Israeli soldiers in northern Gaza
The Hamas group’s armed wing Al-Qassam Brigades on November 4 said its fighters had killed five more Israeli soldiers in fighting in northern Gaza, reports Anadolu Agency. In a statement, it said: “Al-Qassam forces attacked a Zionist force holed up in a building northwest of Gaza City.” Al-Qassam added that its forces clashed with the Israeli forces “with machine guns and bombs, and killed five soldiers and wounded others.”
This week the Israeli army expanded its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since a surprise offensive by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7.Nearly 11,000 people have been killed in the conflict, including 9,488 Palestinians and more than 1,538 Israelis.
World, EU have turned a blind eye to Israel’s attacks in Gaza
The global community and the EU have turned a blind eye to Israel’s attacks to destroy Gaza’s health infrastructure, leaving infants and civilians for dead, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.Accusing the EU of having displayed a “very strange and inconsistent role,” Erdogan said that the EU “did not and could not put forward a fair approach.”
“Pay attention to who is currently on Israel’s side, and who is also left out of the diplomatic processes in the Russia-Ukraine war. (It is) the European Union,” the Turkish leader told reporters aboard the presidential plane on November 3 on his way back from Kazakhstan, where he attended a summit meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).“Our trust in EU has been shattered,” he added.
“The EU administration must first think carefully about the issue of trust in international law and the universal values they mention at every opportunity. While hospitals are being hit, civilians are being killed in refugee camps, and Israel is spewing death into places of worship, schools, and marketplaces, they have to explain where they stand,” Erdogan said.
“What does the EU administration propose?” he asked. “To pave the way for the complete occupation of Palestinian lands by Israel and to actually end the existence of Palestine?”The president also emphasized that “it is the time to defend human life and the right to live.”
