The journey of acquittal of nine Muslim youths implicated in connection with Malegaon blasts seems to be very long, thanks to dilly-dallying attitude of Central Bureau of Investigation, Maharashtra, and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad. The special court of the National Investigation Agency had served notices to the two agencies to submit their reports as soon as possible. The CBI and the ATS, on 27 November, urged the special court to grant some more time and the court has given them time till 18 January 2014.
It is pertaining to note here that the NIA gave clean-chit to the nine accused of Malegaon blast months ago and has arrested four Hindutva terrorists in connection with the blasts. But, the four challenged NIA’s clean-chit in court and demanded to reopen the case. They also have demanded the case be probed by the State Anti-Terror Squad and by the Central Bureau of Investigation before giving its charge to the National Investigation Agency.
