At a meeting held at Sultanpur on February 20, Shi’a scholar and Member All India Muslim Personal Law Board Maulana Kalbe Jawwad appealed to the Muslims “to unite on a common platform”. He emphasised that Ulema and Muslim leaders must come on a common platform and decide which political party Muslims should vote for. He said the general elections are round the corner and the political parties are using all sorts of means to woo Muslims. However, Muslims must give a second thought before voting for a particular political party. No basic amenities were provided for the Muslims. Therefore, Muslims have to weigh their options before voting and observe which political party had fared better and worked for their uplift. Maulana Kalbe Jawwad appealed to the Muslim leadership and the religious leaders of the minorities to come on a common platform and eliminate any sort of confusion before voting.
