Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared that the formation of a national unity government is the “only” solution to the eight-month-old political crisis that continues to paralyse Lebanon. In the second part of Nasrallah’s interview with Al-Jazeera, Nasrallah reiterated the opposition’s demand, saying “the solution is a government of national unity.” In the interview, the Hizbullah leader also reflected over Hizbullah’s political challenges during and after the summer war of 2006, and declared that his party had been on the verge of resigning from the government even earlier, during negotiations for a cease-fire. The Hizbullah leader stressed that his party welcomed the Lebanese Army’s deployment in the South, but reiterated his rejection of attempts to disarm his group, and said Hizbullah exists beyond the South of the Litani River.
