The Nationalist Congress Party has demanded from the government to fix responsibilities of the members of the law enforcement agencies in the wake of mounting complaints against them. Syed Jalaluddin, head of the Minority Cell of the Nationalist Congress Party, said in a statement on 11 December that the top brass of the party is working on bringing to book those officials who have been found guilty of falsely implicating innocent youths in the name of terror and so. The party is pushing the top leadership to seriously consider fixing of accountability of law enforcement agencies with special emphasis on the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra as this one has more often than not found involved in such activities and there are several complaints against them. “We are trying to bring in transparency and transform the system. We want to incorporate self-discipline where senior officers cannot be seen to have biased or pre-conceived notions while investigating and detecting cases,” Jalaluddin stated.
