A group of six organisations, including two political parties, have come together to form a coalition – Uttar Pradesh Muslim Alliance (UPMA). The decision to form the UPMA was taken at a meeting of the leaders of the six organisations in the national capital on April 19. The organisations which have come together are the All India Ulema Council, United Momin Conference, All India Shia Council, Indian Muslim Council, National Loktantrik Party and Rashtrawadi Samaj Party. Jalees Khan of the Indian Muslim Council has been named chairman of UPMA.
