A South Asian political group in New York, Salam, has accused India’s Tata Group of playing a central role in strengthening India-Israel military and technological cooperation. The report titled Architects of Occupation: The Tata Group, Indian Capital, and the India-Israel Alliance, Salam describes the Indian conglomerate as being “embedded in the architecture of occupation, surveillance, and dispossession” in Palestine.
The report alleges that Tata’s subsidiaries like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), maintain deep business and defence links with Israel. It highlights TASL’s collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries and its role in producing components for US and NATO defencesupply chains, including F-16 fighter jets and Apache helicopter fuselages. The group claims that Tata Motors, through Jaguar Land Rover, supplies vehicle chassis used in Israeli armoured patrol vehicles in the occupied West Bank.
The release of Salam’s report coincides with growing activist pressure on the organisers of the TCS New York City Marathon to cut ties with Tata. Activists allege that the company’s partnerships, such as its involvement in Project Nimbus with Amazon and Microsoft, contribute to Israel’s military infrastructure and digital surveillance systems.
Salam’s campaign, titled #TataByeBye, seeks to “disrupt Tata’s dishonest branding” and challenge what it views as corporate complicity in the Gaza war.
