Niqab Means a Modest Dressing

This refers to ‘Niqab Makes a Comeback’ in Radiance (26 Jan-1 Feb). One should make it clear that Niquab, as per Islamic teachings, does not mean only face cover or a big gown designed in a specific way. The Niqab should be better defined as a modest dress which covers all what-should-be-covered in the body of a female as well as a male. Being a member of the Muslim community, it really makes me glad to see some women supporting Niqab or headscarves even in this hostile and unfavourable time when a remarkable number of women do not care for their modesty at all. But, one more point should be noted here that a good number of women wear Niqab in a way which attracts more “undesirable and unwanted ogles” and which spoils the very objective which the Niqab was made compulsory for.
