The Supreme Court on 17 January directed the Special Court of Ahmadabad, set up to hear the communal riots of Gujarat in 2002 and role of Narendra Modi in it, not to announce its final decree until hearing on the plea of Zakia Jafri is going in the Supreme Court. Zakia has moved the Supreme Court against the verdict of Trial Court which did not to provide her a copy of the report of Special Investigation Team and gave clean chit to Modi.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Salwe, advisor to the court in Gujarat communal riots, said he would request the court to provide a shelter for the witnesses of the case as they feel unsafe in the state.
