The prestigious Muslim seminary in Uttar Pradesh, Darul Uloom Deoband, has recently issued a Fatwa saying that there is nothing wrong in having food with a Non-Muslim person. The Fatwa was issued in response to a query of a Pakistan national asking the seminary whether he could share food with his non-Muslim friends. The questioner had said that he had some of his acquaintances in Kenya and while visiting them recently he shared food with some of their non-Muslim friends. He further wanted to know whether it is permitted in Islam to visit a non-Muslim’s house if invited. Replying to his query, the seminary stated in writing that it was perfectly proper to have food with the Hindu brethren and visit them as per the needs and requirement.
