It is the height of irony that US President Barack Obama recently compared himself with the likes of M.K. Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, who are widely acknowledged as symbols of peace and goodwill. Pitted against these awe-inspiring apostles of peace, Obama cuts a very sorry figure indeed.

It is the height of irony that US President Barack Obama recently compared himself with the likes of M.K. Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, who are widely acknowledged as symbols of peace and goodwill. Pitted against these awe-inspiring apostles of peace, Obama cuts a very sorry figure indeed.

In his belligerence, Obama has surpassed then President George W. Bush. Over the last few months, Obama has become increasingly identified with drones which are called “messengers of death” for their devastating powers. However, his wish to come at par with the likes of Gandhi and Mandela is welcome. But will he make efforts to change the course of action he is pursuing?
