The Secretary General of the OIC Prof. Ekmeleddin lhsanoglu on December 24 expressed his serious concern over the latest development on the Iranian peaceful nuclear energy dossier.
Prof. lhsanoglu referred to previous resolutions of the OIC that reaffirmed the inalienable rights of Member States, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, without discrimination, to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, as enshrined in the NPT and the Statute of the IAEA.
Prof. lhsanoglu hoped that every effort would be made to give negotiations another chance to amicably resolve the issue since the region cannot afford another misadventure bearing in mind the lessons learnt from Iraq.
