The family of Syed Umar (30), a cyber café owner from Munireddy Palya, who was allegedly picked up by policemen in plainclothes from his shop, filed a missing complaint with the J.C. Nagar police station on Monday night (September 24). While they have filed a habeas corpus petition with the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court through a telegram, City Police Commissioner B.G. Jyotiprakash Mirji maintained no “arrests” were made in connection with the terror plot case.
However, Syed Saleem, Umar’s brother, said he witnessed his younger brother being whisked away by men in plainclothes, who claimed that they were policemen and that they were taking him to enquire about his shop licence. Umar reportedly contacted Saleem later on Monday (September 24) stating that he was with the police in Madiwala police station and would come back soon. But when there was no response from him, the family members filed the missing complaint on Monday night.
