The Egyptian people and the whole world were deeply shocked and dismayed on 8 July as they heard eyewitness accounts of live bullets killing and injuring thousands of peaceful protesters in front of the Republican Guard Club while performing dawn prayers, in a gruesome and traitorous massacre.

The Freedom and Justice Party, in a statement, said the number of martyrs killed in this massacre by army and police forces has exceeded 73 – including five children – and is rising as a result of serious injuries among the wounded who number over a thousand, most of whom are in a critical condition, especially since ambulances present on the scene could not transfer the martyrs and the injured fast enough. Local residents and surviving demonstrators transferred some of those to the field hospital in their own private cars and even on bikes.
