Shabisthan Ghaffar, chairperson of the Committee on Girls’ Education under the National Commission for Minority Education (NCMEI), has said that district and State-level subcommittees will be formed soon in every State to study the problems and challenges faced by the community in educating girls from the minority communities. She was speaking at a national workshop on minority empowerment and the role of minorities in the educational development of India organised by the Movement for Empowerment of Minorities in India (MEOMI) at the Malabar Chamber Hall, in Kozhikode, Kerala on April 18.
She said a detailed study report prepared by these subcommittees would be submitted to the government to take further action. “Efforts will also be taken to include active and dynamic women members on this committee,” she said adding that “only then the real problems faced by the women in the community in educating their girl children would come to the fore.”
