Pennywise and pound foolish seems to be the attitude of modern citizens today all over the globe. There was news that a ‘Dharam Sansad’ at Kawardha resolved that Sai-Baba is neither Bhagwan or Sant, nor a Guru and his idols should forthwith be removed from temples. The news goes on to say that the Sansad also demanded ban on cow slaughter! The presence of communal goons in the Sansad casts doubt on its genuinely representing ‘Manav Dharam’! If it really represents then all of us, without any exception, belong to mankind i.e. progeny of Manu rescued in his boat during the universal flood! This historical fact puts an end to all sorts of discriminating practices existing today from the west to the east!
If really, according to any of the divine scriptures, cow slaughter is a sin, it is sin for everyone everywhere on the globe and let the resolution be passed in UNO. Even if vegetarian food is to be good, it should be good for all. There are no reasons or divine prescriptions different for different sections i.e. the so-called upper and lower castes.
It was admitted by even AB Vajpayee and PVN Rao during discussions in Parliament that cow slaughter can’t be banned because sections of even Hindu communities in NE, are eaters of beef! Every now and then such nonissues are raised, for diverting public attention from actual issues.
Let there be rules for all men or let everyone be free to have his own rules in personal matters like eating and dressing! Let no one blame others as being intolerant, non-transparent or non-pluralistic while not practising what oneself preaches!
The Islamists, like Palestinians, who defend themselves are referred to in the media as rebels and terrorists, butchers and Zionist puppets like ISIS, as Islamists with obvious and malicious intentions of defaming peace-loving followers of Islam everywhere.
We know beloved Prophet of Islam as Mercy to all creations. He preached and practised utmost kindness to all creatures. Even atheists today say that man is supreme. Islamists certainly consider that man as ‘king of creation’, for whose service the entire universe is created. Islam also enjoins man optimum and judicious use of resources e.g. killing of the permissible animals to eat with minimal pain as permitted by recorded divine rules. We also know others adopting un-prescribed methods just to oppose divine prescriptions!
Certain sections again try to confuse between being vegetarian and being nonviolent. Butchers like Adolf Hitler are known to be vegetarians. J.C. Bose discovered that plants too have life. Today we know plants have feelings as well, so much so that they even cry. The favourite vegetarian items including pure ghee, cheese, curds, honey, etc. are all animal products and not vegetarian.
The question is: Why one be silent on rights violations and killing on flimsy grounds of humans while raising a hue and cry about animal slaughter as cheap source of food? Is it not similar to pouring litres of milk over stone idols while children die of malnutrition? Silence on these matters is not gold!
