Maulana Rabey Hasan Nadvi, who was once again selected as the President of Muslim Personnel Law Board in the nineteenth national convention of the Board has reiterated the position of Muslim Personal Law saying that any change in the personal law disregarding the provision of Shariah is not acceptable to Muslims. He was speaking in the inaugurals session of the three day meeting of All India Muslim Personal Law Board in Chennai. Maulana Rabey said that the Board is a common platform of Indian Muslims. Every citizen of India should have the freedom to practice in accordance with his or her faith and any attempt to suppress any religion per-force should be discouraged as that would be in violation of the democratic structure of the country.
K. Rahman Khan, Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha, also addressed the convention. He praised the services of the Board and suggested it to prepare a vision document for the Indian Muslims for the at least 25 yeas so that Muslims, both individually and as a community may play their effective role in the nation building. He stressed the need of developing accountability on the basis of self introspection. Mere blaming others for our own ills is not the correct and constructive approach.
