Sayyad Ameen Mustafa of Muslim-e-Hind has recently filed a Public Interest Litigation in Bombay High Court against 15 senior officers of Indian Police Service who have played their role to implicate deliberately nine Muslim youths in 2006 Malegaon blast by manipulating the inquiry report. The PIL has named former ATS chief KP Raghuvanshi, former Mumbai Commissioner AN Roy, Maharashtra DGP Sanjeev Dayal and others. Earlier, the CBI mirrored the investigation of ATS which claimed that nine members of banned Students Islamic Movement of India had carried out the blast. But it was NIA that held accused four Hindu extremists in the case and freed all the nine Muslim youths in lack of evidence. The petitioner’s counsel has urged the court to order and register a cognisable offence against errant officers.
