A massive fire reduced a plastic cover manufacturing unit in Jebel Ali Industrial Area in Dubai to ashes, civil defence officials said. No human casualty was reported in the fire. Eyewitnesses said thick blocks of smokes billowed out to the sky soon after the fire erupted and could be seen from the Shaikh Zayed Road. “Police and Civil Defence officials rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Most parts of the factory were gutted and the smell of burning plastic engulfed the area,” they said. Officials said the operation room of the Dubai Civil Defence received information at 10.22am that a fire broke out at a plastic warehouse in Jebel Ali. Firefighters from Karama and Al Quoz Civil Defence stations rushed to the site and evacuated people. The firefighters managed to put out the fire by around 11.15pm before it spread to the nearby warehouses.
