A special trial court for the 2002 Gulberg Society massacre case rejected an application seeking a stay on the trial proceedings till the SC-appointed SIT (Special Investigating Team) submits its final report in the case in the court. The application was moved by S.M. Vohra on behalf of some of the victims and witnesses to the case.

The petitioner had contended that SIT has probed into the complaint of Zakia Jafri under the direction of the apex court and it included certain aspects relevant to the Gulberg Society. Hence it was argued that the trial should be stayed till then. The SIT has already made it clear that it would submit its final report before the relevant court soon.
