Abu Asim Azmi, leader of Samajwadi Party, said in a statement on 25 August, that women are as precious as gold and diamond. They need to take extra-care of themselves otherwise the looters were at every nook and corner looking for them. The leader also stressed that women should avoid outing without a male member of their family keeping in mind the corrupt behaviour of the society.

A day earlier, a member of Rajya Sabha, Naresh Aggrawal, had also stated that girls should avoid publically exposing the to-be-covered-parts of their body. He further added that women should not be much influenced by movies because the cine world is the world of imagination which does not exist in reality where one can walk in objectionable attire while protecting one’s chastity. Laws alone cannot stop every crime and one has to plug the loopholes as well.
