This refers to editorial “Why Not to Exercise the Franchise” (Radiance, 27 April-3 May). It was interesting to note that Darul Uloom Deoband banned the entry of politicians in its premises. To some it may be an unusual step while some others would praise the stand of the Islamic seminary. Either not allowing any political leader entry or deciding not to vote or boycott all political parties reflects the growing disenchantment of people towards political establishment or political leaders. It is important for all political leaders and parties to undergo an image makeover exercise so that people can get the impression by looking at them that their presence means some real development work and not divisive politics, then only people’s faith in political leaders and establishment may get restored.
