President Pratibha Patil on July 17 said the judicial process should be dynamic and easy, to make it more transparent, people-oriented and influential. Addressing the centenary celebrations of the district court Buldhana, Patil pointed out that the people have strong faith in judiciary, but she advised the judiciary to stress on training and reforms in the changed situation. Several outdated laws should be modified or re-enacted, she said, while advocating a change in the structure of the judiciary and strengthening of its various organs. Urging the bar as well as the bench to participate in strengthening the judiciary, Patil said both are equal partners in the judiciary. She also said that it is more important to implement the judgements delivered, and professional lawyers should obey the model code of conduct. She asked women lawyers to handle cases of discrimination against women, child marriages and dowry.
