PRIEST ATTACKED, CHURCH VANDALISED IN MUMBAI

Pastor Philips Fernandez was brutally beaten up and the church was also vandalised by Hindutva zealots. Pastor Fernandez is associated with the Hebron prayer hall of the Church of God in India in Mumbai. Eight people including a woman have been arrested in this connection. Meanwhile, Vice-chairman of the state Minorities Commission Abraham Mathai had denounced this act of hooliganism. He is planning to meet Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil on this issue. However, defending their action the arrested persons claimed they received information that innocent Hindus are being lured to convert to Christianity at the prayer meeting.
