District authorities in Bulandshahr have ordered a probe after alleged errors surfaced in the newly issued draft electoral roll under the SIR process in Uttar Pradesh. The issue emerged from Pathan Tola locality of Pahasu town in Shikarpur tehsil, where Muslim residents reported unfamiliar voter names linked to their home addresses.
Residents said the voter list remained accurate before the revision exercise began last month. Problems appeared after publication of the draft roll. Sagir Khan, a local resident, submitted a written complaint to the administration highlighting multiple discrepancies. He stated the list showed dozens of additional voters registered at homes of Muslim families without consent or knowledge of residents.
Khan said eight houses in the locality recorded a sudden rise in registered voters. His own home, listed as house number 125, showed seven additional names. All names belonged to Hindu voters. Similar additions appeared across nearby homes. According to residents, the total number of such entries reached 56 within a small cluster of houses.
The issue raised concerns among families who fear misuse of addresses and electoral identity. Residents demanded swift correction and accountability from officials involved in the revision exercise.
Shikarpur sub-divisional magistrate Arun Kumar confirmed errors in Part No. 307 of the draft roll. He said officials have begun corrections through Form 8.
